WOODCARVING. WOODTURNING. FURNITURE
Every year, we are proud to host the Southwest Florida Wood Art Expo and Competition, featuring woodcarving and woodturning! This is a collaborative effort between the Peace River Woodturners and the SWFL Woodcarvers.
The Expo will be held January 10 & 11, 2025, in the Charlotte Harbor Exhibition and Conference Center on the shores of the Peace River in Punta Gorda, Florida. Entrants compete for cash prizes and awards like Best of Show, President's Choice, People's Choice, along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each respective skill level and categories.
New this year: Contemporary and Traditional Furniture Competition!
Carving Categories include 3D scenes & still-life, lifelike animals, caricature & montage, etchings, flatwork, holiday displays, impressionistic depictions, and miniaturized realism and detail, traditional and contemporary furniture, and chainsaw carving.
Woodturning categories include bowls & platters, open & closed segmented vessels, miniatures, multi-media & cast elements, utility & kitchen items, and artistic exploration in forms. Items may also be embellished with carving.
Laser art and CNC work are new Introductory categories this year, and not eligible for Best Of Show Awards.
This 2-day Expo also host live demonstrations in both wood carving, chainsaw carving, and wood turning, presented by local artists and professional demonstrators. The event is anchored by the Vendor Display and Sales area, showcasing tools of the trades, supplies, and fabulous displays by local artisans and local Wood Club Members.
Our Southwest Florida Woodcarvers organization, with assistance from local carving and turning clubs, provide education and instruction for our SW Florida neighbors. Many of these small Clubs meet in community activity rooms, public and private spaces, and even in Member's garages & workshops. Woodworking is an activity that can be enjoyed and shared by all ages, and Members always look forward to this annual sharing opportunity with like-minded artisans!
